FREE NIGHT OF THEATER
Free Night of Theater is a new program organized by Theatre Communications Group, the national theatre service organization, with the purpose of attracting new audiences to the theatre. The pilot program was launched last year with Theatre Bay Area chosen as one of three non-profit organizations to participate.
The response to the pilot campaign was overwhelming. A final total of 7,500 free tickets to 122 performances presented by 93 companies all over the Bay Area were given away.
This year, Free Night of Theater performances will cluster on or around October 19. A launch event in San Francisco’s Union Square at noon on October 3 rd will kick-off the campaign. The event will feature live performances from participating theatres along with remarks from campaign leaders. Free tickets may be reserved beginning at 1:00 PM that day, first at the TIX booth in Union Square, and then, after 6:00 PM, online at tixbayarea.com.
